Over 5.2 million foreigners visited Uzbekistan in 2022

State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan published a report on the number of people who entered the country in 2022 for tourism purposes, i.e. tourists. Such a person is defined by the committee as an individual who has visited the country (place) of temporary residence without engaging in activities related to generating income from local sources.
For the period from January to December 2022, 5.2 million foreign citizens visited Uzbekistan for tourism purposes.
As compared to the corresponding period last year, this figure increased by 3.4 million people, or 2.8 times.
The following is a list of countries whose citizens most often visited Uzbekistan in 2022 for tourism purposes:

As can be seen from the table, more than 83% (approximately 4.3 million people) are citizens of countries neighboring Uzbekistan - Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. A significant increase in the number of foreign citizens who visited Uzbekistan is undoubtedly generated by lifted epidemiological restrictions (due to Covid-19) and the general increase in tourist trips around the world and in the region.
