A New Tourist Ethno-Village Opened in Nukus

Korakalpak Ethno-Village tourist center opened in
Nukus
in November 2022.
The center was created with the support of the Women's Empowerment Fund of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
In 2022, USAID provided Nice Nukus company, run by a local entrepreneur Amina Bekjonova, with 15 yurts amounting to $33,000 in total. Located on the banks of the river Ashshikola in Nukus, this ethno-village will introduce guests to the Karakalpak culture, cuisine and crafts, as well as offer opportunities for stay and cultural activities.
In the tourist center, guests can buy Karakalpak carpets, suzani, souvenirs and sweets made by local artisans, as well as taste various Karakalpak national dishes. As part of this initiative, USAID is providing new technologies to develop and expand women's private businesses in areas such as agribusiness, crafts, textiles, and agritourism all across

In particular, as of October 2022, about 40 women entrepreneurs were provided with new technologies and equipment worth more than $600,000 to expand and develop their businesses with funds from the USAID Women's Empowerment Fund.
The participants of the event got acquainted with the activities of the tourist center "Korakalpok Ethno-ovuli" and the conditions created for the guests. They were shown exhibitions of folk crafts and national costumes, a concert program of folklore and variety performers, and folk games.
